Ambassador of Gabon to Russia discussed the possibilities of cooperation in training personnel for the African country at the ASTU

Astrakhan State Technical University was visited by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Gabonese Republic to the Russian Federation Sosthen Ndembi. The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the educational and scientific potential of the university and the learning opportunities for representatives of this African country.

The guest was shown modern engineering simulators and laboratories at the ASTU Institute of Oil and Gas, explaining that the main part of the equipment is provided to the university by industry partner companies. This helps students to learn advanced technologies based on samples of real installations used in oil and gas enterprises and fields.

The Ambassador visited the basic Department of Marine Oil and Gas Technologies of Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft, a training center for training naval personnel, laboratories of the Institute of Marine Technologies, Energy and Transport, the Institute of Fisheries, Biology and Environmental Management and the Institute of Urban Planning.

While getting acquainted with the work of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens, Sosthen Ndembi was told that 175 students from 21 countries are currently studying here.

During the meeting with the leadership of ASTU, the Gabonese Ambassador to Russia stated that his country was interested in developing the oil and gas industry.

"There are areas in your university that we are interested in. And first of all, oil and gas," said Sosthen Ndembi. – The President of Gabon has set a goal to start refining oil and gas in our country by 2029. This requires qualified personnel. I hope that ASTU will become a university that will help us form this elite. In addition to the oil and gas sector, we are interested in such areas of training as energy and marine technology. We are interested in establishing partnerships with your university."
