A delegation from Astrakhan State Technical University (ASTU) visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty to strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions. During the meeting, ASTU Rector Alexander Nevalyonny and KazNU First Vice-Rector Yerkin Duisenov discussed long-term plans for collaboration in the fields of biotechnology, biology, IT, chemistry, and chemical engineering.
The universities agreed to engage in joint scientific research, participate in grant-funded projects, implement academic mobility programs, co-host symposiums and conferences, facilitate the exchange of academic advisors for master’s and doctoral students, and organize reciprocal internships for students and faculty in Astrakhan and Almaty. Scholars from ASTU and KazNU will also conduct joint research on environmental issues affecting the Caspian region.
Over the next two years, the universities plan to establish several joint laboratories, including one focused on digital technologies and artificial intelligence. They also aim to hold hackathons and digital workshops for students as part of their expanding innovation agenda.
