Astrakhan State University, named after V.N. Tatishchev, has welcomed approximately 15,000 students for the new academic year, with one in five being international students.

The university's International Office reports that over 1,200 students from 38 countries were enrolled in various programs for the 2024/2025 academic year. The majority of international students are citizens of Caspian countries, as well as Uzbekistan and African countries. For the first time, representatives from countries like Venezuela, Costa Rica, Tunisia, Kenya, and South Sudan have joined the university.

Among those graduating from the university's Master's program this year is Zhasyn Birkenov, the director of Kazakhstan's "Khabar 24" TV channel. He has worked his way up from being a regional correspondent in Kazakhstan and abroad to creator, host of thematic programs, and head of the largest media holding in his country.

The director of TV channel "Khabar 24" noted that this area is actively developing and supported at the state level in Kazakhstan. Specialists capable of working in a multimedia information environment and preparing content for any channel of information distribution, using the capabilities of the Internet, mobile and other mass communication channels, are in high demand in the Kazakh media.
