Astrakhan State Medical University held the traditional Russian Language Week, which attracted foreign students and listeners from the preparatory department. The event featured a variety of quizzes, contests, and other activities for participants.
The Week started with a wall newspaper contest called "Russian is the Language of Friendship". Students from Iran, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Kenya, together with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan's preparatory departments listeners presented eight creative pieces that revealed their understanding of Russia and their attitudes towards our traditions and Russian language.
A viewing of a fragment from the novella "Obsession" from the legendary comedy "Operation Y" by Leonid Gaiday, with further discussion of its content, was organized for international students of the second and third years. The students learned about the history of the film and compared the behavior of modern students to the characters in the film from the 1960s.
The literary quest "On the Chekhov Wave", dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of one of the most widely read Russian writers in the world, took place in the reading room of the University's scientific library. International students learned interesting facts from the life of Anton Chekhov, and then answered the questions of a literary quiz.
The highlight of the event was a waltz from the movie "My Sweet and Tender Beast" based on Anton Chekhov’s novel "Drama on the Hunt", performed by the students of the preparatory department. They also staged excerpts of Chekhov's humorous short stories "The Chameleon" and "A Horsey Name".
The third-year students from Morocco and Algeria participated in the team game "Funny Phraseology". During the game, they learned about entertaining constructions with figurative meanings, guessed their meanings, and created situations where they could be used.
During the Week, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic of "Man and High Technologies: The Problem of Priorities". Participants, students from Iran, Turkmenistan, Egypt, and Morocco, discussed the use of high technologies, the pros and cons of their application, learned about different types of medical robots and the use of artificial intelligence in medicine.
