Five medals were brought from Atyrau from the Republican Open Kazakh wrestling tournament among young men born in 2009-2010 by pupils of the children's and youth sports school in the village of Volodarsky, Astrakhan region. They performed on equal terms with other participants of traditional competitions – athletes from different regions of Kazakhstan.

Young Astrakhan wrestlers who study at the judo Youth Sports School did not adapt for long to the rules of Kazakh wrestling, which is more dynamic and takes place exclusively in the rack. In the weight category up to 55 kilograms, Alim Shurabekov took the bronze. In the other sections of the tournament, the first steps of the sports podium were also taken by the Volodarsky guys. Tamerlan Tokbayev won the gold medal in the weight category up to 70 kilograms, and Tamerlan Izmailov became the first in the category up to 76 kilograms. Azamat Dzhakiyaev brought the Astrakhan team two gold medals, defeating his Kazakhstani rivals in the weight categories up to 82 and 90 kg.

"We thanked the hosts of the tournament for their honest refereeing and warm welcome. They were surprised by the high level of training of our athletes and expressed a desire to come to the Astrakhan region to conduct joint training and competitions. We will be glad to see them as our guests, because sport unites people," commented Yerlan Dzhakiyaev, coach of the Youth Sports School in Volodarsky village.
