Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin held a meeting with Consul General of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan Kanat Khasenov. Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan Region Ilya Volynsky, Minister of External Relations of the Astrakhan Region Vladimir Golovkov, and Acting Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astrakhan Oleg Kolomin also participated in the discussion.
The head of the Astrakhan Region welcomed Kanat Khasenov to his new position as Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan and wished him every success in his responsible role.
"Kazakhstan is the Astrakhan Region's closest neighbor and partner, and we have established close cooperation in all areas," Igor Babushkin emphasized, "We pay special attention to cooperation with the border regions of Kazakhstan".
The Governor informed the Consul General of Kazakhstan about recent meetings with the akims of Atyrau and East Kazakhstan regions, as well as the Deputy Akim of Mangystau region, that took place in Ufa during the 20th Forum on Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. During these meetings, the prospects for the future development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
In response, the Consul General of Kazakhstan expressed his great honor at starting his work in the Astrakhan Region, which he described as one of the most active border regions of Russia in his opinion.
"The recent visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan has shown that the strategic partnership between our countries is developing and deepening," Kanat Khasenov said, "And I will try to promote cooperation with the regions of Kazakhstan."
During the conversation, the participants discussed promising areas for cooperation.
Kanat Khasenov is 53 years old. After graduating from Al-Farabi Kazakh State National University in Alma Ata, he worked in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and at embassies in Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well.
