International Mother Tongue Day was celebrated in Astrakhan

Events dedicated to the holiday, which has been celebrated in different countries of the world for a quarter of a century at the end of February, were held in cultural and educational institutions.

In the Astrakhan Central City Library, as part of the "Russian as a Foreign Language" project, students of the preparatory department of Astrakhan State Medical University from Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Guinea, Tanzania and Algeria told the guests about their native languages, their peculiarities and history, read poems by poets of their Homeland and showed national dances.

A master class on Russian folk games and dances was held in the library by Sergey Barov, an actor of the Astrakhan Theater of the Young Spectator. Teacher Naila Turkova presented an interactive lecture on the Russian language.

A master class "My native language" was held at the preparatory department for foreign citizens of the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University. The participants of the meeting diligently learned greetings, thanks and simple phrases in French, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic and rare languages of the African continent.

An event in honor of the International Mother Tongue Day was also held at the Astrakhan P.A. Vlasov Art College. The students read poems in different languages of the world.
