Students from different countries studying at Astrakhan universities were the main guests at the event "Visiting Friends". It was held at the Kos Youth Center as part of activities by the International Friendship Club.
The first meeting of this year was dedicated to customs and traditions of Russian people and took place in January. This time, guests learned about distinctive cultures of Kazakhs and Chechens who live in our region.
Andrey Syzranov, first deputy head of the department for internal policy of Astrakhan Region Governor's Administration, Ravil Arykbaev, chairman of Zholdastyk regional organization for Kazakh culture, Adlan Baisangurov, chairman of Vainakh organization for Chechen culture and Baglan Spabek first secretary of consulate general of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan addressed guests and participants with welcome words.
Then a big concert was held, which was attended by amateur groups from different regions of the country. The program included colorful and vibrant dance numbers, musical compositions, and displays of national rituals, such as greeting guests, welcoming the bride at a wedding, rocking a baby in a cradle, and more. Foreign students and other guests tasted Kazakh and Chechen cuisine, viewed exhibits at an exhibition of household items, participated in master classes and national games.
