Astrakhan Maritime University is expanding its international student enrollment geography
Today, approximately 5,000 students are studying maritime and riverine professions at the General Admiral F.M. Apraksin Caspian Institute of Maritime and River Transport. One in six of them are from the Caspian littoral countries.
They consider studying at the Caspian Institute prestigious, as a diploma from its completion positively impacts their career development. Graduates of the institute successfully find employment with large companies.
"I'm studying to be a navigator; I dream of becoming a captain," says first-year student Timur Agulzhanov from Aktau, Kazakhstan. "The teachers provide us with a wide range of knowledge, share their life experiences, and help us master our future profession."
The university plans to open state-funded places for applicants from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Negotiations are also underway to attract applicants from African countries.
"The Caspian Institute currently operates as a branch of the Volga State University of Water Transport but will become an independent educational institution this year," noted Ilya Volynsky, Deputy Chairman of the Astrakhan Region Government. "This will provide ample opportunities to attract students, including from African countries."
One of the goals of this university is to train specialists for the International North - South Transport Corridor. Training will cover maritime and river specialties, including logistics, ship repair and construction, and the development of related infrastructure.
