The creativity of Magtymguly Pyragy was discussed at a round table in the Astrakhan region

A round table "The creative heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy: cultural and humanitarian aspects" dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and philosopher was held in the walls of the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University in the format of a video conference.

The participants of the meeting from the Astrakhan side were representatives of the Ministry of External Relations of Astrakhan region, the representative office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Astrakhan, the Astrakhan regional Public Organization for the Preservation and Development of Turkmen Culture "Turkmenistan", the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University, Magtymguly Pyragy secondary. From the Turkmen side, representatives of the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan and partner universities of the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University: Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Magtymguly Turkmen State University and Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University.

Angelina Fadina, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University, greeted the guests and participants of the round table. She noted that the rich literary and philosophical heritage of the great Turkmen poet currently connects peoples and states.

Ilya Toropitsyn, Deputy Minister of External Relations of Astrakhan Region, stressed that the name of Magtymguly is dear to Astrakhan residents. Many of his literary works were born in our region, carefully preserved and published in Astrakhan at the beginning of the twentieth century. A number of events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet will be held in the Astrakhan region during the year.

The attache of the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan, Enegul Kakajanova, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University for the initiative to hold a round table.

An important topic of the round table was the historical analysis of friendly relations between the Russian and Turkmen peoples. Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamurat Gurbangeldiyev and Acting head of the Department, senior lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences of this university Aina Baymuradova devoted their speeches to this topic. In particular, they told that Turkmen merchants had been developing trade relations with Astrakhan since the time of Peter the Great. At the behest of the Russian emperor, several expeditions were organized to describe the outlines of the Caspian Sea, including on the Turkmen coast. Natives of the Turkmen tribes created a settlement in the territory of the present Astrakhan region. Magtymguly Pyragy often visited one of them, located in the area of the modern Astrakhan village of Funtovo.

Ayna Baymuradova recalled that in October last year, within the framework of the international exhibition "Healthcare, Education and Sports in the era of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state", the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Ashgabat.

The teachers of the Astrakhan V.N. Tatishchev State University and universities of Turkmenistan, who spoke at the round table, paid special attention to the artistic, humanistic, moral value of the creative heritage of the Turkmen classical poet and his role in educating the younger generation.

They noted that the works of the outstanding son of the Turkmen people do not lose their relevance and are known all over the world, because they have found vivid expression of enduring universal values – love for the Motherland, high spirituality, humanism, peacefulness, a call to creation, friendship and brotherhood. Translated into the languages of different peoples, the poems of Magtymguly Pyragy resonate in the hearts of people in all corners of the planet. Monuments to him have been erected in Turkmenistan, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan and other countries.

The topic of the round table aroused genuine interest among its participants, they expressed a proposal to continue working together to study the creative heritage of the classic of Turkmen literature.
