Foreign trade turnover of Astrakhan Region in 2021

According to data of the Southern Customs Administration of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the foreign trade turnover of Astrakhan Region in 2021 amounted to 1161 million USD, growing by 16.9% as compared to 2020 (993.2 million USD).

By the end of 2021, a positive trade balance in the amount of 884.2 million USD was formed (in 2020, a positive balance in the amount of 322.6 million USD).

Export

In 2021, regionals exports amounted to 1022.6 million USD, growing by 55.4% as compared to 2020 (657.9 million USD).

Commodity structure of exports is mainly represented by (in descending order of value): special machinery products – 52.5%, machinery, equipment and vehicles – 21.0%, foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials – 18.4%, wood and pulp and paper products – 6.8%.

Import

In 2021, regional imports amounted to 138.4 million USD, decreasing by 58.7% as compared to 2020 (335.3 million USD). This was due to a one-time delivery of the Mercury floating drilling rig from Turkmenistan to Astrakhan Region in 2020 at a cost of 195.2 million USD. Excluding this supply, imports remained at the level of 2020.

Commodity structure of Astrakhan Region's imports is mainly represented by (in descending order of value volumes): food products and agricultural raw materials – 35.8%, machinery, equipment and vehicles – 31.5%, metals and products made from them – 13.5%, mineral products – 8.5%.

Companies with foreign capital

According to the Department of the Federal State Statistics Service for Astrakhan Region and the Republic of Kalmykia, as of 01.01.2022, 304 enterprises, whose founders are foreign legal entities and individuals, operate in the territory of Astrakhan Region.
